Marginal plants

Marginal or bog plants live a half way house between dry land and in water.  Bog plants like to live in wet ground which is not fully submerged in water (semi aquatic).

Aquatics and bog plants may live very near to each other, but survive under completly different conditions.  Aquatic plants survive in water with a low nutient level whereas bog plants like to have access to a high nutrient source.

A good example of a bog plant is Gunnera manicata which has enormous rhubarb like leaves which can grow grow up to 1.5m wide. In perfect conditions however their leaves have been known to grow up 3.4m across!
