Professional Memberships & Affiliations

The Society Of Garden Designers (SoGD)

Andy Kirman is a registered member of the Society of Garden Designers (SGD). The SGD is the only professional association for Garden Designers in the UK and is dedicated to supporting, promoting and maintaining the highest quality of standards within the membership.

Through accreditation procedures, conferences, regionally based training events and local networking groups, the SGD addresses current issues, engages with the wider industry and broadens the understanding and knowledge of all aspects of garden design.

Association of Professional Landscapers (APL)

The Association of Professional Landscapers (APL) comprises accredited landscape companies who design, build and maintain gardens throughout the UK. The rigorous inspection process to join is the toughest within the industry. Along with the initial inspection, each member is inspected annually to ensure each member has up to date insurances, complies with health and safety law and their quality of work is to the highest possible. The APL is the only landscaping scheme operator of Trustmark, a Government endorsed initiative that promotes professional trades to consumers.

Horticultural Trade Association (HTA)

The Horticultural Trades Association (HTA) is the trade association for the UK garden industry. It is dedicated to helping develop the industry and its member businesses, including most garden centres and other garden retailers, growers, landscapers, manufacturers and suppliers.

TrustMark is a quality mark which operates a framework under which 30 Scheme Operators work in the RMI (repair, maintenance and improvement) sector, including trade associations, local government trading standards teams, and independent Scheme Operators. These schemes are approved to carry the TrustMark logo and recruit reputable and trustworthy tradesmen. This enables the TrustMark Scheme Operators to promote improved RMI sector standards, and tackle related issues such as better enforcement. All of these Scheme Operators are audited annually by TrustMark, to ensure processes, standards and complaint procedures are being maintained.
