One Team. One Vision. One Exceptional Garden.
Creating a garden involves hundreds of individual decisions. The layout, levels, drainage, materials, lighting, planting and construction details all need to work together.
Kirman Design brings these elements together through one coordinated garden design and build service.
Our garden designers and landscapers work as one team, giving us control over how the original design is interpreted and constructed. You will not be left trying to coordinate separate designers, landscapers and specialist contractors yourself.
Because our gardens are designed and built by our own team, questions can be resolved quickly, construction details can be properly coordinated and the completed garden can remain faithful to the agreed design.

Bespoke Garden Design Created Around You
No two homes, gardens or clients are the same. Your garden should therefore be designed specifically for your property, priorities and way of life—not adapted from a standard formula.
We begin by listening. We want to understand what currently prevents you from enjoying your garden and what you would like the new space to make possible.
You may want a sophisticated garden for entertaining, a peaceful retreat, a practical family garden or a more accessible outdoor space. You may need greater privacy, better drainage, more manageable levels or planting that provides colour and interest throughout the year.
Our role is to uncover the possibilities within your space and translate them into a coherent, practical and original design.
Every detail is considered in relation to the whole garden, from the position of a specimen tree to the direction of a paving joint. The result is a garden that feels connected to your home and unmistakably yours.
Landscape Construction with Attention to Detail
An excellent design deserves equally careful construction.
Our landscaping team builds gardens with close attention to levels, foundations, drainage, material finishes and the small details that determine how refined the completed space feels.
We do not see a garden as a collection of individual products. Paving, walls, steps, planting, lighting and garden features must all work together to create one unified landscape.
Our landscape construction services include:
Site preparation and groundworks
Porcelain and natural-stone paving
Garden walls, raised beds and retaining structures
Steps and changes of level
Drainage and water-management solutions
Timber and composite decking
Bespoke screening and fencing
Pergolas and garden structures
Outdoor kitchens and fire features
Ponds, rills and water features
Garden lighting
Soil preparation and planting
By involving the design team throughout construction, we can protect the original design intent while responding intelligently to the practical realities discovered on site.
Planting That Completes the Garden
Planting brings a garden to life. It introduces movement, colour, texture, fragrance and seasonal change while helping new hard landscaping settle naturally into its surroundings.
Our planting designs are developed around the particular conditions within your garden, including soil, drainage, exposure, shelter, sunlight and the level of maintenance you would like to undertake.
We can create planting schemes ranging from restrained contemporary combinations to richly layered borders, naturalistic planting, woodland gardens and traditional country-garden schemes.
Where appropriate, we can also source and install mature hedging, specimen trees and statement plants to give a newly completed garden an immediate sense of structure and maturity.
The aim is not simply to make your garden look good on the day it is finished. It is to create a planting scheme that establishes successfully and becomes more rewarding as it develops.
A Garden Designed for the Way You Want to Live
A beautifully designed garden can transform far more than the appearance of your property.
It can provide a place to dine outdoors, entertain friends, enjoy quiet mornings or spend more time with your family. It can frame views from inside your home, introduce privacy and make previously neglected areas genuinely useful.
Your new garden might include:
Outdoor entertaining
A carefully planned terrace, outdoor kitchen, fire feature or sheltered seating area can create a natural extension of your home.
Peace and privacy
Thoughtful planting, specimen trees and bespoke screening can reduce overlooking and create a more private garden without making the space feel enclosed.
Year-round interest
Strong structure, considered lighting and seasonal planting can make the garden enjoyable throughout the year—not only during summer.
Improved access
Well-designed paths, levels, steps and ramps can make a garden safer, more comfortable and more inclusive.
Easier maintenance
A low-maintenance garden does not need to be plain or lifeless. The right combination of layout, materials and planting can reduce upkeep while retaining character, wildlife value and seasonal interest.

Gardens of Distinction
Every completed Kirman Design garden has its own character.
Our garden design portfolio includes contemporary entertaining gardens, richly planted spaces, courtyards, water gardens, show gardens, accessible landscapes and complete transformations of difficult or underused sites.
Some are calm and restrained. Others are colourful, dramatic or highly individual. What connects them is the same underlying approach: thoughtful design, careful construction and close attention to detail.
Our award-winning contemporary courtyard garden, for example, combines porcelain paving, a restricted white planting palette, garden lighting, charred timber and bespoke Corten steel screens. It demonstrates how a relatively compact space can be transformed through strong ideas and precise execution.

Our Garden Design and Build Process
1. Discover
We begin by discussing your garden, property, aspirations, likely timescale and the level of help you require. This allows us to understand your priorities and establish whether Kirman Design is the right fit for your project.
2. Design
Following the consultation and site assessment, our design team develops a carefully considered proposal around your home, lifestyle and priorities. Depending on the service selected, this may include plans, material recommendations, planting concepts and three-dimensional visualisations.
3. Build
Our in-house landscaping team brings the agreed design to life. The landscapers work closely with the designers throughout construction so that details are properly coordinated and the original vision is maintained.
4. Complete
Planting, specimen trees, lighting and finishing details are introduced to complete the garden and create the intended atmosphere. Once the work is finished, we can provide practical aftercare guidance to help you look after and enjoy your new garden.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does Kirman Design provide both garden design and landscaping?
Yes. We provide a complete garden design and build service using our own design and landscaping teams. We can also provide individual services, including garden design, planting design, landscaping and specialist garden features.
What size of gardens do you work on?
We work on gardens of different sizes, from compact courtyards to extensive private landscapes. The suitability of a project depends on its scope, requirements and location rather than its dimensions alone.
Do you offer design-only services?
Yes. Design-only and planting-design services may be available depending on the nature and location of the project. Contact us with some initial information about your garden and we can recommend the most appropriate service.
Can you build a garden designed by somebody else?
We can consider landscaping-only projects where a suitable professional design and sufficient construction information have already been prepared. We will review the available information before confirming whether we can undertake the work.
Can you help with drainage, awkward levels or overlooking?
Yes. Practical problems such as poor drainage, significant level changes, difficult access and overlooking should be considered from the beginning of the design process. We look for solutions that are technically appropriate and visually integrated into the garden.
Which areas do you cover?
We work throughout much of North West England, including Cheshire, Lancashire, Greater Manchester, Merseyside and the Ribble Valley. Please contact us if you are unsure whether your property is within our working area.
How do I get started?
Tell us where your garden is located, what you would like to change and the type of service you are considering. Photographs, approximate dimensions and any relevant plans are helpful during the initial conversation.
